Second Step - Social Emotional Learning

I am excited to share that I will be delivering the Second Step curriculum to students in grades 1, 4, and 5 throughout the 2017-2018 school year!

What is Second Step?
Second Step
is an evidence-based program that instills Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills in students. These skills include:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Self-Management
  • Responsible Decision-Making
  • Relationship Skills
  • Social Awareness

Why Second Step?
Second Step
will not only teach students SEL skills they can use now in the classroom, but will also benefit them in their lives outside of school. SEL skill development is not finite. As your child continues through his/her academic career at East Rochester, through the parallel development of SEL skills, they will acquire the tools they need to be college and career ready.

SEL & Home Link Connection

Throughout the year, please check this webpage to stay updated on the topics your child is learning in the Second Step curriculum. Use the information and resources provided to start a conversation with your child at home to bridge the connection between home and school!
